My fascination for light reflections was the inspiration for this light. The uneven surface of the reflector and the adjustability generate different light patterns on the wall. Due to extensive research about religious objects and meditative spaces, I was aiming at creating a moment of pause and quiet. The light transmittable film, also called spy foil, lets circa twenty percent of the light pass through the reflector and produces a milky glow on its backside. In turn, the light acts as a light sculpture in the room without being spatialized. The structure is made of steel pipe and the light source a single power LED. I wanted the structure to be sleek and unobtrusive for the lamps’ effect to be enjoyed.
